Brief CV:
Paula Rodríguez-Puente es licenciada (Junio 2004) y Doctora en Filología Inglesa por la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (2013). Durante el curso 2004-2005 trabajó como asistente de lengua extranjera en la Escuela de Humanidades, Lenguas y Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad de Wolverhampton (Reino Unido). Entre 2005 y 2007 completó sus estudios de doctorado en la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela con financiación de una beca de tercer ciclo de la Xunta de Galicia. En septiembre de 2008 obtuvo una beca de cuatro años de Formación de Personal Investigador (FPI) del Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación para realizar su tesis doctoral con el grupo de investigación Variación, Cambio Lingüístico y Gramaticalización. Su tesis, "The Development of Phrasal Verbs in British English from 1650 to 1990: A Corpus-based Study", dirigida por la Dra. María José López Couso, obtuvo el Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado 2012-2013. Entre septiembre de 2012 y diciembre de 2015 trabajó como Profesora Ayudante Doctora en el Departamento de Filología de la Universidad de Cantabria, donde también ejercía como Coordinadora de Relaciones Internacionales de la Facultad de Educación. Desde enero de 2016 Paula se unió al Departamento de Filología Inglesa, Francesa y Alemana de la Universidad de Oviedo, donde desde noviembre de 2021 ocupa un puesto como Profesora Titular de Universidad.
Paula realizó estancias de investigación en el Departamento de Inglés de la Universidad alemana de Freiburg (marzo-junio 2009), en la Bodleian Library (Oxford) con una beca de la European Society for the Study of English (enero 2010), en la Escuela de Lenguas, Lingüística y Culturas de la Universidad de Manchester (octubre-diciembre 2010), en el Departamento de Inglés de la Universidad de Helsinki (abril-junio 2012) y en el Departamento de Inglés y Alemán de la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (septiembre-octubre 2015). Sus principales líneas de investigación incluyen variación léxica, sintáctica y semántica, variación discursiva y de registro, cambio lingüístico en la historia del inglés, procesos de gramaticalización, idiomatización y lexicalización, y creación, explotación y anotación de corpus lingüísticos. Paula tiene experiencia en compilación de corpus electrónicos: contribuyó a la compilación de los textos legales británicos de ARCHER (A Representative Corpus of Historical English Registers) y coordinó la compilación y etiquetado del Corpus of Historical English Law Reports 1535-1999 (CHELAR) y del Corpus of Contemporary English Legal Decisions, 1950-2021 (CoCELD).
Paula también ha estado involucrada en la organización de varios eventos científicos: fue una de las organizadoras del ELC2 (Second International Postgraduate Conference on English Linguistics, Vigo, octubre de 2009) y presidió la tercera edición de esta serie de congresos celebrada en Santiago de Compostela el 21-22 de septiembre de 2012. En la Universidad de Cantabria también participó como miembro del Comité Organizador del Seminario modular plurilingüe de lengua y literatura "Nuevas perspectivas en el estudio del patrimonio lingüístico-literario" (17-24 abril de 2015) y el IV Congreso Internacional de Lingüística y Literatura (20-22 junio 2016). En la 38º edición del congreso ICAME celebrado en la Charles University in Prague en 2017 organizó, conjuntamente con Teresa Fanego, la workshop titulada "Advances in corpora of legal English: investigating variation in legal discourse". En 2018 formó parte del comité organizador del 30º Congreso de la Sociedad Española de Lengua y Literatura Inglesa Medieval (SELIM) celebrado en Oviedo y en 2023 del XIV Congreso Internacional de Lingüística de Corpus (Oviedo, 10-12 de mayo de 2023). Paula es además coordinadora del panel "Corpus-based grammatical studies" de la Asociación Española de Lingüística de Corpus (AELINCO) y del panel "Historical linguistics" de la Asociación Española de Estudios Anglo-Norteamericanos (AEDEAN). También forma parte del Comité Editorial de las revistas International Journal of Language and Linguistics e International Journal of TESOL Studies. Desde mayo de 2019 es además co-editora, junto con Carlos Prado-Alonso, de la revista oficial de AELINCO: Research in Corpus Lingusitics.
Su monográfico The English phrasal verb, 1650-present. History, stylistic drifts, and lexicalisation (Cambridge University Press, 2019) recibió el Premio Leocadio Martín Mingorance de Lingüística Teórica y Aplicada en el XLIII Congreso Internacional de AEDEAN (Alicante, noviembre 2019) y el ESSE 2020 Book Award en la categoría Lengua y Lingüística Inglesa (agosto 2020).
